Rose L. Christopher of East Boston, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 87.
Rose was born in Boston on January 2, 1924, a daughter of the late John and Lena
( Montefusco) Christopher and had been a lifelong resident of East Boston. She was a graduate of Girls Latin High School.
Rose had worked for many years as a secretary at Northeastern University in Boston until her retirement. She became very close with her co-workers who lived in the Waltham and, through them, Rose became very active at the Waltham Senior Center.
She enjoyed taking many day trips with her friends as well as knitting, crocheting, and puzzles.
Rose leaves her son, Jonathan R. Christopher and his longtime companion, Deborah Peterson, of Northfield; two grandchildren, Adam and Joshua Christopher; one great-granddaughter, Natalia Christopher, and many cousins and friends.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Christopher and Norma Madden.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rose’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Tuesday, May 10th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
