Shrewsbury – Mrs. Rose E. (Saulnier) Doucet, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 104.
Rose was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on July 28, 1908, a daughter of the late Semide and Aimee (Aubut) Saulnier. She immigrated to the United States when she was 18 years old and lived most of her life in Waltham where she and her family had been long-time members of Saint Joseph's Parish.
A Shrewsbury resident for many years she moved to the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center six years ago. Rose and her family became especially close to the other residents and staff who they wish to acknowledge and thank for the exceptional, gentle and compassionate care that she received during her stay.
The wife of the late Louis J. Doucet and mother of the late Richard Doucet, Rose leaves her daughter, Mary F. Law of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Tracy A. Law and her fiancé, Wayne Clark, of Worcester and Kathryn M. Hobbs and her husband, Ian, of Minneola, Florida; her great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alexander Hobbs; her brothers, Dennis Saulnier of Nova Scotia and Jean Thomas Saulnier of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was also the mother-in-law of the late Albert Law and a sister of the late Madeleine d'Entremont, Josephine Weaver, Henri, Alphonse and Catherine Saulnier.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rose's life by gathering to visit at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning, November 6th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
