Waltham – Mrs. Rose M. (Vienneau) Hayes, of Waltham, died Monday, March 23, 2009 in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton. She was 96.
Born in Lowell on December 26, 1912, a daughter of the late Abraham and Oxilia (Rousseau) Vienneau, Rose was a homemaker who cherished spending time with her family. She had lived in Waltham for eighty years and was a daily communicant at Saint Mary's Church. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the piano.
Rose leaves her children, Henry J. Hayes, Jr. and his wife, Pauline, of Shrewsbury, David R. Hayes of Hudson, New Hampshire, Raymond A. Hayes and his wife, Stephanie, June Cannistraro, and T. Arlene Connelly all of Waltham; one brother, Raymond Vienneau of Holiday, Florida; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was the wife of the late Henry J. Hayes, the sister of the late Leo, Alfred, Roger, and Lucien Vienneau, Jean Fournier, Jacqueline Doucette, Anna Byrne, Claire Wenckus, and Betty Lentini, and the mother-in-law of the late Barbara Hayes, Joseph Cannistraro and Donald Connelly.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rose's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, in Waltham.
