Waltham - Ms. Rose A. Thambash, of Waltham, died Monday, February 11, 2019 in Meadow Green Nursing Facility. She was 96.
Rose was born November 13, 1922 in Lexington, a daughter of the late Biagio and Augustina (Bibbo) Thambash.
During World War Two, she worked for the federal government. Rose also worked for Standard Electric, the Raytheon Company, and was the first female buyer at the J.L. Thomson Company.
She loved playing cards on Saturday night with her family and friends and traveled extensively to Canada, Florida, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Kentucky, and Wymans Beach for the annual family gatherings. Rose also loved her trips to Foxwoods, golfing, gardening and reading.
A devout Catholic, Rose had a close group of religious sisters that she enjoyed spending time with.
Rose leaves her sister Theresa Kozlowski of Bedford, many nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and grandnephews, including her grandniece Christine Gately of Sandwich, close friend Geraldine Bonanno of Waltham, and longtime best friend Frances Lunny.
Rose was also the sister of the late Margaret Gage, Lena Beaulieu, Helen Deshayes, Marion Bussey, and Pauline, Lillian, Salvatore, Nicholas, and Anthony Thambash.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rose's life by gathering to visit at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 16th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery.
