Waltham- Mrs. Ruby Alicia (Faulkner) Richards of Waltham died Thursday December 2, 2004 in the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Weston. She was 99. Born in Lower Selma, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Frederick and Amanda (Anthony) Faulkner, she taught school for several years before she immigrated to the Boston area in the mid 1920s. She worked in the Waltham Watch Factory and many prominent area restaurants before becoming a homemaker. She was a longtime Waltham resident, a member of Beth Eden Baptist Church, and a visitor to the Lakeview Congregational Church. She was a member of the Beth Eden Womens Federation. During the 1980s she and her husband Howard delivered Meals on Wheels. Ruby and Howard lived in West Newton, Lee, Pittsfield, and Marlborough before moving back to Waltham. They were one of the original residents of the Francis Cabot Lowell Mill on Moody Street in Waltham. She was the wife of the late Howard M. Richards and sister of the late Leonard, Lawson, Will, Clifford, Guy and Pauline Faulkner, Aveline Fulton and Kate Embree. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhoda and Mahlon Hutchison of Raleigh, NC; one sister-in-law, Viola Pike of Hanson and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States and Canada. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. Please omit flowers.
