Russell J. Chiasson

Reba McEntire's country hit, 'If I Had Only Known' accurately speaks in words and song about the sudden changes in life as the result of an unexpected loss. It talks about knowing...if only…it'd be the last time for a walk in the rain, or hearing one's voice again or being by one's side just one last time. And it ends, 'If only I had known, if only I had known, The love I would've shown..if only I had known.'

Russell Chiasson loved country music and while there are many songs he loved there'll be many by which he's remembered. Russell died Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton after being stricken ill. He was 55. We pray and trust Russell knew that the love of his family and friends was unending and it accompanies him to heaven.

Russell J. Chiasson was born December 6, 1962 in Waltham a son of Lucille A. (Geoffrion) Chiasson and the late Bernard J. 'Bernie' Chiasson. Raised and educated in Waltham he was a 1981 graduate of Waltham Vocational High School.

Always mechanically inclined he began work at Paul's Auto in Waltham where he worked for nine years. He then took a position as mechanic for the City of Waltham. He was still working as inspector in the city's water department.

Time away from work enabled him to tinker and repair cars and get them back to working order. He loved boating, and doting on his only grandson, Julian.

He leaves his children, Amanda R. and Michael A. Chiasson of Fitchburg; his mother, Lucille Chiasson of Fort Pierce, Florida; his grandson Julian Chiasson; his brothers Brian G. Chiasson, of Napa, California, Robert B. Chiasson of Waltham, and James M Chiasson, of Gilford, New Hampshire; also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Russell's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, December 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by his Life Celebration at 7 p.m.
