Weston - Mrs. Ruth E. (Hansen) Fletcher, of Weston, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 in her home. She was 95. Ruth was born in Waltham on August 21, 1915, a daughter of the late Hans George and Mary J. (Sherwood) Hansen.
Her family moved to Weston as a child. Ruth moved to Waltham in 1937 where she remained until 1970 when she returned to Weston. Ruth worked in the Waltham High School cafeteria as a baker until her retirement. She was active with the Weston Seniors and enjoyed playing cards.
Ruth was the wife of the late William B. Fletcher, the mother of the late Constance A. LeBlanc and David H. Fletcher, the grandmother of the late Joseph LeBlanc and the sister of the late Bertel and Thelma Hansen.
She is is survived by her children, William B. Fletcher, Jr. of Arlington, and Linda J. Cotterly of Weston; her grandchildren, Lisa Cotterly-McKenna, Patricia Taylor, and John LeBlanc; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Julia’s Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
