Waltham – Ruth Ellen Glasheen, of Waltham, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. She was 77.
Ruth Ellen was born in Boston on December 1, 1939, a daughter of the late John J. and Gertrude A. (Lally) Glasheen. She was raised in Belmont and graduated from Rosary Academy in Watertown.
A Waltham resident for most of her life she worked as a secretary for ITEK in Lexington until her retirement. She followed the Boston sports teams and had been a talented golfer in her younger years. Summers always brought smiles during her yearly vacation trip to West Yarmouth.
The sister of the late John J. Glasheen, Jr., she leaves her sister-in-law, Joan M. Glasheen of Waltham; her nephew and nieces, Robert M. Glasheen and his wife, Debra, and Patricia A. Hovsepian, all of Waltham and her grand-nephews, Derek and Ryan Hovsepian.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth Ellen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, September 18th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning when her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
