Ruth B. Jones

Weston – Mrs. Ruth B. (Fahey) Jones, of Weston, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 92.

Ruth was born in Waltham on February 28, 1920, a daughter of the late John and M. Agnes (Kennedy) Fahey and had been a Weston resident for the past 64 years. She graduated from Framingham State College in 1941 and worked for a short time as a teacher at South Junior High School in Waltham.

She was an avid gardener, talented seamstress and crafts person. Ruth was an active parishioner of Saint Julia's Church in Weston where she was a CCD teacher as well as being a past president of the Sodality. She was also one of the founding members of the Weston Council on Aging where she served as chairman from 1982 to 1985.

The wife of the late Arthur F. Jones, she leaves her children, Judith Rice and her husband, Sam, of Acton, Ruth Smith and her husband, Craig, of Saranac Lake, New York and A. Michael Jones and his wife Elizabeth, of Montgomery, Texas; her son-in-law, Michael Riley; her grandchildren, David, Eric and Brian Rice, Molly and Norah Smith, Brendan, Matthew and Sarah Jones and Katie and Mark Riley; her sister and brother, Janet Coen of Marshfield and Richard Fahey of Salem, New Hampshire; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was also the mother of the late Cynthia L. Riley and sister of the late Paul Fahey.

Ruth's family would like to extend deepest gratitude to the caregivers who came into her life, helping her to remain active and independent, especially Tom O'Leary.

Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Saturday, March 10th, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Joseph's Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
