Waltham – Mrs. Ruth P. (Dunn) O'Connell, of Waltham, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. She was 84.
Ruth was born in Boston on March 6, 1933, the daughter of the late Bernard Dunn and Mary Phyllis (Lynch) (Dunn) Bosworth. She was raised in Boston and graduated from Boston Girls High School.
On September 4, 1955 she married Roy E. O'Connell in Brookline and the couple settled in Waltham where they would raise their family. She was a devout Catholic and very active at her home parish of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted in Waltham.
She is survived by her husband, Roy E. O'Connell and her sons, Roger E. O'Connell of Waltham and William R. O'Connell of Gulfport, Florida.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday April 2nd from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
