Lowell – Mrs. Ruth M. (Melanson) Parkinson of Lowell, formerly of Waltham died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Saints Memorial Hospital, Lowell. She was 91.
Born in Gardner, a daughter of the late Francis and Marion (Ela) Melanson, she lived in Waltham for most of her life before moving to Lowell. Until her retirement she worked for many years as an assembler at the Waltham Watch Factory. She was an animal lover who enjoyed sewing, crocheting and spending time at the Tewksbury Senior Center.
The wife of the late William E. Parkinson, she leaves her children, Marion G. Cousens of Lowell and Beverly R. Crowley of Fitchburg; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late Daniel E. Parkinson and grandmother of the late Daniel E. Parkinson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
Visiting hours are Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m.
