Northborough – Mrs. Ruth E. (Crawley) (Wilkins) Tewksbury, of Northborough, formerly of Waltham, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Medway Country Manor. She was 88.
Ruth was born in Boston on September 13, 1925, a daughter of the late William and Ethel (Fosdick) Crawley, and was raised in Roxbury. In 1949 she married Somerville native Alton A. Wilkins and she lived there before moving with her husband and young family to Waltham in 1955.
As her family grew Ruth returned to school when she was 45 and trained to become a licensed practical nurse at Waltham Hospital. She worked on a medical floor and later in the oncology unit before retiring seventeen years later. She was long active at First Baptist Church in Waltham and with the Electa Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
After Alton's death in 1980 she remained in Waltham until her marriage to Harlan Tewksbury and the couple moved to Northborough in 1990 and where Ruth has lived since.
She leaves her childen, Charlene Sneider of Ogden, Utah, Denise Pasciuto and her husband, Joe, of Bellingham and Robin Bordenca and her husband, Jack, of Billerica; her step-son, Harlan Tewksbury, Jr. and his wife, Alice, of Waltham; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ruth was also the sister of the late William Crawley.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, November 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning in First Baptist Church, 400 Lexington Street, Waltham where her Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
