Weston - Ms. Sally Jane (Perkins) Raymond, formerly of Arlington and Needham, died at home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 after an illness. She was 79.
Sally was born December 16, 1945 in Winchester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Clarence A. Perkins, Jr. and Fredna (Garner) Perkins.
Raised in Winchester she graduated from Winchester High School and earned her Associates degree from Vermont College. She worked many years in educational publishing as well as a Paralegal. A longtime resident of Arlington she moved to Weston three years ago.
Sally enjoyed summers in Pocasset, sailing and racing in her sailboat aptly named the "Salmar” with her cousin Martha. In later years she enjoyed spending her time in Wellfleet. She enjoyed her trips to Ocean Point, Boothbay Harbor in Maine, and Vermont, especially family trips to the von Trapp Family Lodge. She loved challenging games of bridge and was working on being a life master.
Sally had a great laugh and was always very social. She had countless friends from all walks of life.
She was predeceased by her niece, Heidi Elizabeth Ferguson; and her beautiful cousin, Martha Sweetser Wright.
She leaves her children, Jennifer Raymond Biter and her husband, William of Waltham and Steven A. Raymond and his wife, Susan Carsten Raymond of Ellington, Connecticut; her precious grandchildren who were the light of her life, Andrew ‘A.J.’ Raymond, Max Raymond and Sally Ann Biter; her sisters, Nancy Perkins Ferguson of Norwell and Susan Perkins of Maynard; niece Holly Ferguson of Concord; cousins, Brad Wright (Julie), Brian Wright (Jenine) and Melissa Wright. And their children, Max, Madison, Dylan, Willow and Marsten.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sally’s life by gathering for a Memorial Service in First Lutheran Church, 11 Eddy Street, Waltham at a day and time to be announced. Burial is private in Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester. There are no calling hours.
