Salvatore G. Cacace

January 8, 1932 — September 18, 2024

Weston

Salvatore G. Cacace, of Weston, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham following a period of declining health. He was 92.

Sal was born in Waltham on January 8, 1932, a son of the late Anthony “Tony” and Mary (Cipriano) Cacace, and was a graduate of Waltham High School. After that he served with the United States Air Force as an aerial photographer during the Korean War. He received his Associates degree from Northeastern University.

Sal’s first job was working at his father’s grocery store, Tony’s Spa, in Waltham. It was a popular hangout for the school kids.

A Weston resident for more than sixty years, Sal began a long working career in many fields as a letter carrier at the Weston Post Office before becoming a Weston Police Officer attaining the rank of sergeant. After that he went to work with his brother Vincent at Crown Distributors in Allston.

Indulging his entrepreneurial spirit, Sal opened two lounges in Waltham, the Southside Bar & Restaurant and the Lincoln Café. In later years, Sal worked at Bear Hill Mobil where he opened up before heading off to an almost daily round of golf at Wayland Golf Club where he was a member of the Inner Club.

Wherever he was throughout the years, Sal’s affable nature earned him many friends. With coffee cup in hand, a short introduction often led to a long conversation and the feeling that you’d known Sal for decades.

Sal had a wild sense of humor just like his father and was always a practical joker and clown. He was definitely the favorite of the younger members of the family.

The husband of the late Gunhild M. “Gunny” (Hallstrom) Cacace, he leaves his daughter, Marie C. Brumme (Peter) of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Kurt A. Brumme (Caitlin) of Waban and Kristina M. Brumme (William Woods) of Waltham; his great-grandchildren, Jack and Hal Brumme; his brother and sister, Pasquale “Pat” (Ningie) Cacace of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Olga Trivisano of Waltham and several nieces, nephews and their families. He leaves behind his loving and kind companion Lorraine Lawn and her family (Cathy, Rick, Kelly Donahue and Joe).

Sal was also a brother of the late Vincent Cacace and Maryanna Lorini and brother-in-law of the late Vincent Trivisano.

Family and friends will honor and remember Sal’s life by gathering for his funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at First Lutheran Church, 6 Eddy Street [at the corner of Weston Street], Waltham. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
