Waltham - Rev. Samuel Joseph Fayad, C.S.S., of Waltham, died Monday, August 20, 2007 in the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley. He was 88. Born in Gloucester, a son of the late George and Marina (Lattof) Joseph, Fr. Sam attended St. Ann Grammar School, Gloucester High School, the Stigmatine Novitiate in Waltham, and Elm Bank Seminary in Wellesley. He entered the Stigmatine Seminary on September 9, 1939, professed his first vows on September 9, 1941, his final vows on September 9, 1944 and was ordained to the Holy Priesthood at Saint Paul Church in Wellesley by Auxiliary Bishop John J. Wright on June 12, 1948. Fr. Sam retired to the Stigmatine residence in Waltham in 1995. Prior to that he had served the community in many capacities, most recently as parochial vicar at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford and as pastor at All Saint Church in Manassas, Virginia and Mount Carmel Church in White Plains, New York. Fr. Sam was the brother of the late Herbert Joseph, John Joseph, Everette Joseph, Adele Joseph, and Helen Foote. Fr. Sam leaves two brothers, Jonathan Joseph and George Joseph; three sisters, Sally Lockwood, Marion Sargent and her husband Larry and Yvone Cogan and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, August 27th at 10:30 a.m. at the Espousal Center Chapel, 554 Lexington Street, Waltham. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford at 1:30 p.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 26th from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Espousal Center Chapel.
