Sandra L. Englehart, of Plymouth, passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, August 5, 2024. She was 48.
Born in Waltham on December 12, 1975, Sandra was the beloved daughter of Edward Englehart of Dixfield, Maine and the late Patricia (Ryberg) Marqus. She was raised in Waltham, graduated from Waltham High School in 1993, earned her associate's degree in nursing from Mass Bay and her BSN from Curry College.
Sandra’s sense of humor and witty sarcasm endeared her to the patients she cared for. And her outspoken nature and love for meeting new people made her career choice a natural fit and made her an exceptional nurse. She dedicated herself to caring for others at Waltham Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Norwell Hospice, and Falmouth Hospital until her retirement. It was at Boston Medical Center where she met Reggie Butler, her husband and soulmate.
In 2002, Sandra and Reggie settled together in their home by the beach, in the Manomet area of Plymouth where they raised their two beloved daughters, Zoey and Rayna. Family was everything to Sandra and she loved being there for every sport competition, swim meet and basketball game to cheer on her girls.
Her love for the ocean led her to spend countless peaceful hours on the beaches near her home in Plymouth and in Englewood, Florida. Sandra also had a keen eye for treasures and often dreamt of opening a thrift shop due to her passion for thrifting. She also loved The Chateau Restaurant, making her delicious goulash, and her favorite color, sunset orange.
The family wishes to convey their appreciation to the nurses at Norwell VNA & Hospice for taking the time to perform the pinning ceremony, bestowing Sandra with the Florence Nightingale Medal, which is awarded to exceptional nurses who demonstrate leadership traits and routinely go above and beyond to deliver the highest quality of nursing care to their patients.
Sandra was predeceased by her mother Patricia (Ryberg) Marqus whom she rejoins in heaven.
In addition to her husband, Reggie, she leaves her daughters Zoey and Rayna Butler, all of Plymouth; her father Edward Englehart, along with his wife Paula of Dixfield, Maine; her sister Jennifer Englehart, her nephew John, and her stepfather Rocky Marqus all of Waltham, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, with whom she was very close.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sandra’s life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., Waltham on Wednesday, August 14 from 4 to 8 PM. Her funeral service and burial will be held privately.
Her love for the beach was further evident in her wish that friends and family come in comfortable “coastal” attire to celebrate her life on Wednesday.
