Sandra A. Walazek

August 31, 1948 — September 23, 2017

Waltham – Sandy Walazek was the great family organizer and able to bring everyone and everything together for the annual family reunions and holiday gatherings. As a day care provider for over 40 years she had the patience of a saint and a love that extended beyond her immediate family.

Her battle with ovarian cancer ended when she died on Saturday, September 23, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was 69.

Sandra A. Landry was born on August 31, 1948 in Waltham a daughter of the late Albert B. and Lucy A. (Gullotti) Landry. Raised and educated in Waltham she graduated from Waltham High School. She married David C. Walazek on October 18, 1969 in Saint Charles Borromeo Church and for over 40 years she worked as a private day care provider.

Her love for family and friends was evident in her ability to skillfully organize the family reunions and holiday gatherings. Her love for the game of baseball was palpable and she was a loyal Red Sox fan. She and David enjoyed traveling and camping at Grand View Campground in Rochester, New Hampshire. Active at Our Lady's Church in Waltham she served as a Eucharistic minister and taught in its CCD program.

Her signature chocolate chip cookies were made with one ingredient you cannot purchase at the store…love. Everyone looked forward to her cookies. As well…her cakes for any occasion were legendary and elaborate.

In addition to her husband David of 48 years, she leaves their children, David C. Walazek Jr. and his wife, Maria of Billerica, Christine M. Cleary and her husband, William of Andover and Jason A.
