Scott P. Varley of Waltham, passed unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He was 32.
Born in Concord on October 13, 1992, he was the cherished son of Patrick Varley of Waltham and Gina Ghioldi (and her husband, Carlton SooHoo) of North Billerica, and the beloved brother of Sarah Varley of Pittsburgh, PA. Scott was raised in Acton and was a 2011 graduate of Landmark High School in Beverly. He furthered his education at Universal Technical Institute, graduating from their Automotive and Diesel Mechanic Program.
Scott was a skilled certified mechanic who had a genuine passion for fixing anything and everything. Even as a young boy, Scott was helping his (now late) Pepere fix things at the family’s camp in New Hampshire, building computers, and fixing the copiers and printers for his teachers at school. Scott loved jet skiing, riding ATVs, driving his (huge) RC car, history, and baking his late Grammy’s apple pie at every holiday for family and friends to enjoy. He loved online gaming, with his two favorites being World of Warcraft Classic and Dungeons and Dragons, and enjoyed many types of music, especially country and metal. Scott was fascinated by history, planning trips, and in recent years traveled to many locations including national parks, Grand Cayman, Canada and Europe (Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands). He loved taking pictures and bringing back gifts from his journeys for his loved ones. Most importantly, Scott will be remembered for his kind, loving, and compassionate nature and will always be loved and greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Patrick Varley and Gina Ghioldi (Carlton SooHoo); his sister, Sarah Varley; his aunt, Diana Ezzell, his uncle, Daniel Varley (Leslie); his Grandmother Ruth "Memere" Varley; his maternal Grandfather Emilio "Grandpa" Ghioldi; his Godmother, Maritere Fernandez; his Godfather, Charles Lyons; his step-brother, Perry SooHoo; and many great aunts, great uncles and cousins. Scott was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Warren "Pepere" Varley and maternal Grandmother Karen "Grammy" Born (and step-Grandfather, James Born).
Funeral services for Scott will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of his Grammy, Karen Born, at: kidney.org
