Waltham – Mr. Serge G. Lavoie, of Waltham, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at his home. He was 66.
Serge was born in Lowell on January 29, 1944, a son of the late Joseph and Violet (Frenette) Lavoie. He was raised in Newton where he had lived before moving to Waltham in 1986. Until his retirement he worked for forty-two years as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Newton.
He was an avid sports fan, following the Boston sports scene year-round. He spent all of his free time with his family and throughout his life had a keen interest in music and was a terrific dancer.
Serge leaves his wife, Marilyn J. (Parkhurst) Lavoie; his children, Jon, Jason and Angela Lavoie, all of Las Vegas, NV; his step-children, Lori Ruest of Bangor, ME, Lynn Griggs of Marlboro, Frank Griggs of Waltham, Barbara Ingalls and Donna Evans, both of Concord, NH, Karen and David Griggs, both of Pittsfield, NH and Michael Griggs of Raymond, NH; his brothers, Normand Lavoie of Deltona, FL and Paul Lavoie of Watertown; his sister, Claudette Cohen of Chelmsford; 3 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will honor and remember Serge’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. immediately followed by his funeral service at 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, 250 High Street, Waltham.
