Sheila E. (Enz) Downey

Mrs. Sheila E. (Enz) Downey, formerly of Roslyn Harbor, New York and Jupiter, Florida died Thursday,June 7, 2018 in Meadow Green Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Waltham, MA. She was 89.

Born on March 19, 1929 in New York, NY she was the daughter of the late Anton and Johanna (Stack) Enz. She graduated from Forest Hills High School in Queens, NY and earned a certificate from the Berkeley Secretarial School. She married John V. Downey on May 15, 1954 in New York. John died May 17, 1989 and Sheila moved to Jupiter, FL in 1993.

She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed dancing with her husband at various social events and was active in her home parish of Saint Mary's in Roslyn Harbor. She also enjoyed entertaining friends around her pool.

In addition to her husband John she is predeceased by their son, Timothy P. Downey and her sister, Kathleen Eby.

She leaves her children, Sean J. Downey of Waltham. MA, Deirdre D. Coleman of Morristown, NJ and Patrick E. Downey and his wife, Lorraine of Manhasset, NY; her grandchildren, JD Coleman (Elizabeth), Peter and Matthew Coleman, Mark, Matthew and Kendra Downey and many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Sheila's life by gathering on Saturday July 14th at Saint Mary's Church, 110 Bryant Avenue, Roslyn Harbor, NY where her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, New York is private.
