Waltham – Mrs. Shirley E. (McGuigan) Clancy of Waltham died Monday, January 2, 2006 in her home. She was 85. Born in Millville, New Brunswick, Canada, Mrs. Clancy had lived in Waltham for the past seventy-eight years. She was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1939. Mrs. Clancy enjoyed playing cards with the ‘Thursday Night Girls Card Club’ and also loved to cook. Mrs. Clancy was the wife of the late Michael B. Clancy, the grandmother of the late Kevin Clancy, the daughter of the late Herbert and Ruby (Golding) McGuigan, and the sister of the late Muriel Bradbury and Nita Tracy. She is survived by her children, Patricia A. Cononi and her husband Charles of Waltham and Richard T. Clancy and his wife Paula of West Newton; her grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Bryan Clancy U.S.A., Rachel Cononi Weinschenk, and Charles ‘Chip’ Cononi; her great-grandchildren, Calvin and Jordan Cononi and Jack Clancy; her brothers, Thomas and Herbert McGuigan both of Waltham; her sister, Myrtle Kershaw of Natick; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Newton Area Corporation for the Benefit of Special Needs Athletes, (N.A.C.B.S.N.A.), P. O. Box 66163, Auburndale, MA 02466.
