Shirley A. (Nelson) Gaudet

Palm Coast, Fla. - Mrs. Shirley A. (Nelson) Gaudet, of Palm Coast, formerly of Waltham died Tuesday December 18, 2018 in her home. She was 82.

Shirley was born in Waltham on February 18, 1936, a daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude (Lloyd) Nelson. She had been a lifelong resident before moving to Florida in 1996.

She was a lifetime member of Christ Church in Waltham where she served on the Altar Guild and the Vestry. Following her move to Florida Shirley became an active member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Palm Coast.

A 1954 graduate of Waltham High School, she worked for more than thirty-five years as a medical secretary for Drs. Donovan, Fergus, Cancian, and Kasuba at their Watertown practice.

The wife of the late Henry J. Gaudet, she leaves her son, Henry J. Gaudet, Jr. and his wife, Melissa Lazaro-Gaudet, of Weymouth; her grandchildren, Meghan and Mattheau Gaudet; her sister and brother, Janet L. Corliss of Waltham and Robert W. Nelson of Las Cruces, New Mexico and many nieces, nephews and their families including her niece and Godchild, Kathleen Corliss.

Family and friends will honor and remember Shirley's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, December 27th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning in Christ Church, 750 Main Street, Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
