Shirley A. Ring

Waltham – Mrs. Shirley A(Pettengill) Ring of Waltham died Sunday, April 11, 2004 in her home. She was 69. Born in Peterboro, NH, Mrs. Ring had lived in Watertown and Cambridge before moving to Waltham forty-two years ago. She was the secretary for the Weston High School, Special Education Department until her retirement. Prior to that she had worked at Waltham Hospital. Mrs. Ring was a former Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader as well as a member of the Saint Jude Church Sodality Club and the Saint Jude Church Couples Club. Mrs. Ring was the daughter of the late Horace “Pat” and Margaret (Flynn) Pettengill. She is survived by her husband, Matthew J. Ring Jr.; her children, Margaret E. “Peggy” Mescall of Framingham, Matthew J. Ring III of Merrimack NH, Sheila A. Oliva of Waltham, and Elizabeth M. “Beth” Shaughnessy of Natick; her grandchildren, Victoria A. and Joseph R. Mescall, Katelyn M., Emily K, and Stephen M. Ring, Sarah E. and Matthew A. Oliva, Patrick M., Daniel R. and Ryan D. Shaughnessy; her brother, Douglas E. Pettengill of Waltham; her sister, Nancy M. Condon of Waltham, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours Tuesday 7-9 pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
