Spencer – Mrs. Shirley (Wilson) Sabetti, of Spencer, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in the Lanessa Extended Care Center in Webster. She was 89.
Shirley was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on April 5, 1924, a daughter of the late S. Morrill and Camilla (Farr) Wilson. She moved with her family to Waltham in 1943 where she lived before moving to Spencer four years ago.
For more than sixty years she was an active member of First Congregational Church in Waltham that later became Trinity Church. She served a term as senior deacon and volunteered for all of the church committees including furnishing flowers to running the coffee hour and teaching in the Sunday school program.
Until her retirement she worked for more than twenty years as a bookkeeper in the office at M & M Fabricators in Watertown. Before that before she had worked at the Raytheon Company and in the Main Street business office of the Parke-Snow Store in Waltham
Shirley leaves her husband of sixty-five years, Samuel Sabetti who she married at First Congregational on August 7, 1948. She often remarked that one of the highlights of her life was a 1983 trip the couple took to Italy.
In addition to her husband Sam, she leaves her daughter, Diane Fournier-Shea and her husband, Charles Shea, of Spencer; her grandchildren, Andrew Fournier of Watertown and Stephen Fournier and his wife, Dawn, of Millis; her great-grandchildren, Julia and Isabella Fournier; her brother, S. Morrill Wilson of Contoocook, New Hampshire; her sisters, Laurel Ann Wilson and Marylou Jensen, both of Westford and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was also the mother-in-law of the late Frederick M. Fournier and a sister of the late John Wilson and Elaine Mullen.
Family and friends will honor and remember Shirley's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, April 12th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday morning when her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
