Waltham – Mrs. Shirley A. (Luchinskis) Vaughan, of Waltham, died Friday, November 13, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 75.
Shirley was born in Cambridge on September 30, 1940, a daughter of the late George and Helen (Korkus) Luchinskus, and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School.
A Waltham resident for the past fifty years she worked as a secretary at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center in Waltham until her retirement. At home Shirley had a green thumb caring for her plants, enjoyed the company of her cat and had a skill at doing crosswords.
She leaves her daughter, Laura A. Vaughan of Waltham; her granddaughter, Kaitlynn A. Beach of Waltham; her sister, Blanche L. Stalmon of Waltham; her niece and nephew, Lisa M. Cavallaro and her husband, Mike, and Eric W. Stalmon and his wife, Jennifer, all of Waltham and her grandniece and grandnephew, Danielle and Alexander Stalmon.
She was also the former wife of the late M. William Vaughan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Shirley's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, November 19th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
