Winchester – Mr. Siegfried J. Frank, of Winchester, formerly of Waltham died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Courtyard Nursing Center in Medford. He was 89.
Siegfried was born in Germany on August 28, 1924, a son of the late Anton and Anna (Mühlfried) Frank. When he was seventeen he was conscripted into the German army and a year later was sent to fight at Stalingrad. When the Sixth Army fell he was able to return home to Germany until the end of the war.
In 1953 he immigrated to the United States where he settled in Watertown and three years later, on June 30, 1956, married Nancy N. Dodds, a native of Scotland, in Naugatuck, Connecticut. The couple settled in Watertown before moving to Waltham where they lived for more than forty years.
Until his retirement Siegfried worked for thirty-six years at the German Consulate office in Boston. He was a longtime member of the Boylston Schul-Verein German-American Club in Walpole.
In addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, Nancy, he leaves his daughter, Laura F. Clifford and her husband, Robin, of Malden; his brother and sisters, Arno Frank of Poughkeepsie New York, Ingeborg Najarian of Watertown and Herma Vogt of Germany and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Siegfried's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
