Waltham - Mrs. Sophie (Doucette) Aucoin, of Waltham, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 98. Born in Friar's Head, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late Simon and Philomina (Martel) Doucette, Sophie had lived in Waltham since 1924. She worked for over twenty years for the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham as an assembler until her retirement. It was believed at the time of the closing of Saint Joseph's Parish in Waltham that she was the oldest living constant communicant. Sophie was also known far and wide for her homemade bread and rolls. Sophie was the wife of the late Levi J. Aucoin, mother of the late Jackie and Billy Aucoin, mother-in-law of the late Albert Crawford and predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. She leaves two sons, George C. Aucoin and his wife, Jacqueline, of Port Ludlow, Washington and Geoffrey J. Aucoin of Waltham; one daughter, Shirley M. Crawford of Waltham; her daughter-in-law, Helen Ferro Aucoin of Framingham; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
