Framingham – Mrs. Sophie (Kassabian) Savadian, of Framingham, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Framingham Union Hospital. She was 89.
Sophie was born in Lawrence on July 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Alexan and Agavani (Mugerditchian) Kassabian. As a child she moved with her family to New York where she was raised and educated in Brooklyn.
She and her husband were the proprietors of 'Also Antiques', a store on Mount Auburn Street in Watertown for a number of years. Sophie was also a member of the Armenian Relief Association and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. She enjoyed volunteering at the Charles River Museum of Industry and for the 'Meals on Wheels' program in Waltham.
She leaves her husband, Albert Savadian, Sr.; her children, Albert Savadian, Jr., and his wife, Ruth, of Framingham and Alexis Shaw of Waltham and her grandchildren, Lauren, Amanda and Michael Savadian.
Sophie was also a sister of the late Anne Kennedy and Margaret Frueh.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sophie's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, October 24th from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where her Funeral Service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
