Framingham – Sister Janis Delaney, CSJ, in her 78th year as a beloved member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, died peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Bethany Healthcare, Framingham. She was 97 years old.
Sister Janis was born Mary Gertrude Delaney in Waltham on January 9, 1924, a devoted daughter of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish on Waltham's South Side and the late Thomas J. and Mary Teresa (Berry) Delaney.

Her greatest gift was communicating with great delight and affection her joyful love for Christ and His Church. Her nieces, nephews and their families, who adoringly called her "Aunt Gert", always appreciated her warm smile, calm demeanor and a willingness to help in family life on any occasion and with little notice. Leaving every family gathering, the refrain, . . . "Thank you . . . that was just . . . wonderful!" will be lovingly remembered as her signature goodbye.
