Marlborough - Ms. Stacy M. Lyons, of Marlborough, formerly of Waltham, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at her home. She was 28.
Stacy was born in Waltham on July 2, 1984, and had lived in Marlborough since 2001. She graduated from Assabet Valley Regional Technical School where she studied cosmetology.
Stacy worked as a waitress at Firefly's Restaurant in Marlborough where she got to do what she loved best, meet people and make them smile. Stacy had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and at ease. She always greeted people with a smile and was sure to have them laughing and feeling like they belonged.
She was that rare type of person who could walk into a room knowing no one and come out with at least two friends and know their life stories. She lived life to the fullest and being the adventurous girl that she was there was nothing she would not try. She loved to travel and briefly moved to Oahu, Hawaii for a year, where she rode her bike through the streets to work, to the beach to surf or to explore the island or walk the beach.
When Stacy came home her adventures didn't stop and she met challenges head on. She sky dived from planes and cable jumped off of high poles; if there was something to be done, Stacy was determined to try it!
She was a devoted and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews who were her pride and joy. Family, friends and life were the most important things to Stacy. Her incredible and loving team of doctors and nurses at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston gave Stacy high aspirations of becoming an oncology nurse but her illness prevented that dream from becoming possible.
She leaves her parents, Richard and Geraldine (Flanagan) Lyons of Marlborough; her sister, Melissa Lyons of Waltham; her brothers, Richard Lyons, Jr. and his wife, Amy, and Derek Lyons, and his fiancée, Marlowe Peltak, all of Marlborough; her grandmother, Audrey Flanagan of Marlborough; her nieces and nephews, Brent Nelson III, Savannah Lyons, Brady Nelson, Richard Lyons III, Stacy Lyons, and Olivia Lyons; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Stacy was also a granddaughter of the late Albert Flanagan and Vincent and Mary Lyons and a niece of the late Patrick Flangan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Stacy's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, July 25th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning when her funeral service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
