Quincy – Mr. Stanley J. Dudek, Sr., of Quincy, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at John Adams Rehabilitation Center in Quincy. He was 84.
Stanley was born in Lawrence on August 15, 1933, a son of the late John and Karoline (Kobus) Dudek. After attending Lawrence High School he joined the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War aboard USS Pawcatuck, an Ashtabula class replenishment oil tanker.
After the war he married Waltham native Edith Barbara Hayes and the couple settled in Waltham where they raised their family. Stanley worked in the maintenance department of the Waltham Housing Authority until his retirement.
He had been a longtime member of Our Lady's Parish in Waltham and the PFC John M. Sullivan, USMC Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10334 in Waltham.
After retirement he lived for a time in Laconia, New Hampshire before moving to West Palm Beach, Florida where he lived for more than twenty years.
Stanley's wife, Barbara, died October 16, 1982.
He leaves his children, Denese Saulnier of Holliston, Stanley Joseph Dudek, Jr. of Laconia, New Hampshire and John Dudek and his wife, Carol, of Weymouth; his grandchildren, Ashley Soughley and her husband, Nick, Caitlin Saulnier, Joseph Dudek, Shawn Dudek and his wife, Cassandra, Jonathan Dudek and Emily Dudek; his great-grandchildren, Fiona and Drew Soughley and Lucy and Zoe Dudek; his sister, Genevieve 'Jeb' Degrasse and many nieces and nephews.
Stanley was also a brother of the late Chet Dudek, Joe Dudek, Carole Ward, Frank Dudek and Irene McGeever.
Family and friends will honor and remember Stanley's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, May 30th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
