Stephen E. Connors, III

Mr. Stephen E. Connors, III, 68, of Waltham, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, February 25, 2023 after a difficult battle with esophageal cancer.

Steve was born in Chelsea on November 14, 1954, a son of Katherine M. (Muise) Connors and the late Stephen E. Connors, Jr. Raised in Watertown, he was a graduate of Watertown High School with the class of 1972. He married the love of his life, Janet M. Napolitano, on May 22, 1977 at Saint Jude Church in Waltham and they made the Warrendale neighborhood home to raise their children Lisa, Kevin and Danny.

He worked for over twenty-five years at Boston College, most recently as a construction project manager prior to his retirement in 2016. He remained a loyal enthusiast of their sports teams as a long-time season ticket holder for hockey and football. He previously owned and operated Stephen E. Connors General Contracting. He was a talented carpenter and his work ethic and meticulous attention to detail were unmatched. His handiwork still shows in not only his family home which he renovated himself, but the homes of his children, family and friends.

Steve will undoubtedly be remembered most for his humble and kind demeanor along with his quick-witted sense of humor. His family was his greatest source of pride. After spending so many years on the sidelines of Lisa, Kevin and Danny’s sporting events, he was thrilled to do that again for his eight grandchildren, often cheering them on at numerous fields, rinks and gyms in the area.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Janet, he leaves his children, Lisa J. Whittier (Matthew) of Waltham, Kevin P. Connors (Kira) of Belmont and Daniel E. Connors (Danielle) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Katherine, Molly and Lucy Whittier, Brendan, Caitlin and Patrick Connors, Olivia and Nicholas Connors; his mother, Katherine Connors of Bellingham; his siblings, Karen Lambert (Edward) of Bellingham, Barbara Sheehan (David) of Watertown, Michael Connors (Mary) of Bellingham, Timothy Connors (Carleen) of Ashland, and Jeannie Danielson (James) of Bellingham; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Fortier of Warwick, Rhode Island and John Napolitano (Sandra) of Westford; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends who were more like family.

Steve was also a brother of the late Katherine Fortier.

Family and friends will honor and remember Stephen’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, March 2^nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
