Waltham – Mr. Stephen R. Thomas, of Waltham, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 62.
Stephen was born in Boston on October 14, 1953, a son of the late Leo J. and Patricia A. (Kelleher) Thomas. He was raised in Newton and worked as a machinist for the Parker Hannifin Company in Ayer. Stephen was also a longtime parishioner of Saint Jude Church in Waltham.
He was the beloved husband of Janis M. (Butler) Thomas; the loving father of Jennifer A. Gemelli and her husband, Daniel, of Burlington, Kathleen M. Pinto and her husband, Tyler, of Plymouth, and Stephen L. Thomas and his girlfriend, Lindsey, of Westfield; the proud and loving grandfather of Sarah, Daniel, Matthew and Brendan Gemelli; and the brother of Leo J. Thomas, Jr. of Newton and Michael and his wife, Donna, of New Braunfels, Texas. Stephen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was also the devoted son-in-law of Marion T. Butler of Waltham and the late Edwin C. Butler.
Stephen was also the brother of the late Richard Thomas of Wellesley.
Family and friends will honor and remember Stephen's life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, February 5th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on
Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
