Steven Meuse was a fighter all his life and it was most recently proved true over the last three years as he battled pancreatic cancer under the careful and compassionate direction of Dr. Lawrence Blaszkowsky. He defied odds and remained brave throughout his treatments and illness. He didn't lose the battle…he just ran out of time. Steve died on Monday, November 9, 2020 in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 51.
Born on December 6, 1968 in Waltham he was the son of John W. and Helen J. (Parello) Meuse. A graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1987 he played football on its team. He then earned his Bachelors degree from Fitchburg State University. Steven worked in IT for various companies including Navisite Corporation and most recently with Charter Communications.
Steve's interests included playing the guitar, New England Patriots, time on the beach including his favorite Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, travel and family vacations to Myrtle Beach. He loved automobiles and would often attend many varied car shows. He will be remembered for cruising around in 'Medusa' his Dodge Challenger with Led Zeppelin playing from its speakers. He also had a cool wrist watch collection and was the 'Funcle' (fun uncle well versed in amusement and fun). He loved fishing with Timmy and helping Frankie achieve his goals as he made his way towards college. Steve and Angela enjoyed cruising in Medusa to Rockport, MA for the sights and the best blueberry doughnuts from Brothers, as well as fighting over the coveted title as the "favorite". Steve always rewarded Frankie, Timmy and Angela for their good report cards with "Fun Days with Uncle Steve" where they often went bowling, saw movies and always had a great meal at the restaurant of choice.
In addition to his parents, Helen and John, he leaves his siblings, Carleen M. Meuse of Worcester, Timothy J. Meuse (his wife Karen) of Waltham and Kristina 'Tina' L. Sutton (her husband Leslie) of Northborough; uncle of Frankie J. and Timothy M. Meuse and Angela E. Sutton; also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of really good and close friends.
Family and friends will honor and remember Steven's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, November 15th from 2 to 5 p.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham on Monday at 10 a.m. Private burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
