Susan C. Sawin

Waltham - Mrs. Susan C. (Haughney) Sawin of Waltham died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was 53. Born in Troy, New York, Susan had lived in Waltham for the past twenty-five years. She was a secretary for the Waltham School System in the Special Education Department for the past five years. She had previously worked in Human Resources at the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston and she helped to open the Hyatt Hotel in Cambridge. She also worked at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Boston. Susan was a graduate of Ayer High School, Class of 1971, and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Class of 1975. Susan was the devoted wife of Keith A. Sawin for twenty years; the loving mother of Brett A. Sawin and Ryan J. Sawin both of Waltham; the daughter of Mary (Heslin) Haughney of Waltham; the sister of Ken Haughney and his wife, Kathy, of Kansas and Gary Haughney and his wife, Donna, of New Jersey; the daughter-in-law of Ruth Sawin of Sudbury; the sister-in-law of Frank E. Sawin III and his wife, Cynthia, of Lynnfield, Gary B. Sawin and his wife, Lisa, of Dover, Craig B. Sawin and his wife, Pamela, of Foxboro, and Scott L. Sawin and his wife, Marcy, of Sudbury. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late James Haughney and the daughter- in-law of the late Frank E. Sawin, Jr. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
