Waltham – Mrs. Susie B. (Basdanes) Nordstrom of Waltham died Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton. She was 82. Mrs. Nordstrom was born in Lowell on September 25, 1930.
Susie had worked at a local bank, Mohawk Rug Company and the Puritan Dress Company collectively for over thirty years.
She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and attended Grace Chapel where she provided child care and knitting for their missions. Susie loved gospel music, nature rides and walks with her son, Mark, in New Hampshire, New York and Plum Island. She also enjoyed craft fairs, theatre, opera, and boat rides with her daughter, Sheila.
She was the wife of the late James I. Nordstrom and the sister of the late Tom, Alec, Johnny, Charlie, George and Dee Basdanes and Helen Lazares.
Susie is survived by her children, Mark T. Nordstrom of Waltham and Sheila Lantos and her husband, Greggory, of Concord, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Spencer and Marla Lantos; her sister, Viola Makiej and her husband, Walter, of Andover and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Susie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, June 20th from 4-8 pm and again on Friday morning where her Funeral Service will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
