Sylvia M. Littlefield was born on March 27, 1933 in Waltham, one of four children to the late William A. and Mary (Magennis) Littlefield. A lifelong resident, she was a graduate of Waltham High School Class of 1951. She earned her certification from the Boston School of Dental and Nursing in 1952 and worked as a dental assistant before marrying Newton native, Arthur J. Nally, on September 10, 1955, in the Church of Saint Mary.
Sylvia and Arthur lived together in their family home on Waverley Oaks Road for sixty-three years. Their home was always the "center" for holidays and other significant events, celebrated with their ever-growing family. She was the consummate hostess, and her heart was full when all were gathered at 12 Waverley Oaks Road. Sylvia and Arthur also treasured their time on Cape Cod in Harwich, where their summer home as well, was a gathering place for family and friends.
Sylvia also enjoyed her daily walks down the park with her friends.
Sylvia remained in their home for some time after Arthur's passing on November 26, 2018. She transitioned to assisted living in Marlborough in 2020, where she developed new friendships in her next phase in life…even amidst the challenging restrictions of Covid.
Sylvia died Friday, January 14, 2022 in Beaumont Nursing & Skilled Rehabilitation in Westborough. She was 88.
In addition to raising their five children, Sylvia was an integral part of her husband's business, Waverly Oaks Construction.
In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was predeceased by her siblings, William A. Littlefield Jr., Charlotte M. Queen and Phyllis Littlefield.
She leaves her children, Arthur J. Nally Jr. (Maureen) of Franklin, Douglas W. Nally (Michelle) of Lunenburg, Melinda M. Nally of Waltham, Lauren P. Carlson (Roy) of Marlborough and Steven P. Nally of Medway; her grandchildren, Michelle Sullivan (James), Danielle Tromp (David), Christopher Nally and Melissa Harrigan (Christopher); her great-grandchildren, Augustine and Haisley; also survived by nieces & nephews.
