Waltham – Mrs. Teresa (Scarpino) Elia of Waltham died Monday, December 22, 2003 at Lahey Clinic, Burlington. She was 78. Born in Cerva, Catanzaro, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Sarafino and Fiorita (Salvaggio) Scarpino. Mrs. Elia lived in Cambridge before moving to Waltham in 1976. She leaves her husband, John Elia; her children, Maria Elia of France, Gilda Scalese of Italy, Fiorita Visocchi of Lexington, Mirella Grimaldi of Revere, Anthony Elia of Groveland, Nuccia Arsenault of Sudbury and Fred Elia of Sandwich; 6 brothers and sisters living in Italy; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Waltham.
