Watertown – Mrs. Teresa C. (Mellett) McMahon, of Watertown, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. She was 86.
Teresa was born in County Mayo, Ireland on September, 28, 1929 a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Slattery) Mellett. Early on in her career, she worked for her family's business in Brighton, and then spent the next 15 years preparing meals in the kitchen of the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury. She then worked at Costco in Waltham where she retired after 10 years.
Teresa was predeceased by her husband John J. McMahon who died May 25, 1999 and her sisters, Sr. Josephine Mellett and Mary Moran.
She leaves her sons, John 'Jay' McMahon of Peabody and Brendan McMahon and his wife, Mia, of North Hills, California; her grandson, Declan McMahon; her siblings, Patrick Mellett of Mayo, Ireland and Michael Mellett and his wife, Eugenie, of Dublin, Ireland, and sisters Sarah Kerr of Waltham, Philomena Moran and her husband, Luke, of Niles, Illinois, Monica Hynes and her husband, Maurice, of Birmingham, England and Delia Kirrane of Mayo, Ireland and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Teresa's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, November 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main St. Watertown, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
