Waltham – Mrs. Théresè A. ‘Terry’ (Pelletier) Aucoin, of Waltham, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 85.
Terry was born in Waltham on March 10, 1925, a daughter of the late George and Alvenia (Patenaude) Pelletier, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham and the Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing.
From 1953 to 1965 she ran a day care center at her home, the Marie Aucoin Day School, named after her late infant daughter. After that she returned to nursing where she became the supervisor of emergency and outpatient services at Waltham Hospital.
Terry was also a longtime parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Church in Waltham where she had been a member and past president of the Ladies Guild. She also taught Bible study and religious education classes for confirmation candidates. Terry also shared in the thirty year diaconate ministry of her late husband, Deacon Albert J. Aucoin, who died in December, 2005.
She leaves her children, Jean A. Aucoin and his wife, Barbara, of Waltham, Roland P.J. Aucoin and his wife, Wanda, of Canton and Roger F. Aucoin and his wife, Betty, of Wynantskill, New York; her sister, Cecile McCauley and her husband, Kenneth, of Boca Raton, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins including Elaine Cooney.
Terry was also a sister of the late Rev. G. Gerard Pelletier, Bernadette Delaney, Paul and Henri Pelletier.
Family and friends will honor and remember Terry’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, February 18th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
