Mrs. Theresa C. Leger, of Waltham, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in Mount Auburn Hospital. She was 83.
Theresa was born in Memramcook, New Brunswick on May 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Zoel and Josephine (Allain) Gautreau. On July 9, 1960 she married Omer J. Leger in Memramcook and the couple settled in Waltham where they would raise their family and have lived ever since.
She was an extremely talented seamstress and created or altered everything from wedding gowns to doggy beds and everything in between. She was happiest when she was able to feed and take care of her family and one of her signature dishes was her barbecue spareribs which were always served on Christmas Eve. She was an animal lover, grooming her beloved Honey on a weekly basis, and also enjoyed remaining active, often walking the streets of her Waltham neighborhood. Her life revolved around her family and she looked forward to their annual trips back to New Brunswick to catch up with her extended relatives and host of friends.
She leaves her beloved husband, Omer J. Leger of Waltham; her children, Francis J. Leger (Deborah) of Marlborough, Mona Leger McGean (David) of Waltham and Guy J. Leger (Lisa) of Needham; her siblings, Amedee Gautreau of Waltham, Irene Dollard (Paul) of Marlborough and Bertha LeBlanc (Eddie) of Waltham; her grandchildren, Sean Leger (Ashley Kalakowski), Ashley Compass (Steve), Daniel McGean (Carlos Rodriguez) and Adam McGean; her great-grandchildren, Chase, Mackenzie and Charlotte and also leaves many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was the sister of the late Olidia Gaudet and Neri, Gerald, Paul, Hector and Armand Gautreau.
Family and friends will honor and remember Theresa's life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, August 4th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, and again on Monday at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Chapel, 51 Hall Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Memorial donations in her name may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
