Waltham – Mrs. Theresa L. (Profetto) Salvucci, of Waltham, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 88.
Theresa was born in Waltham on October 1, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Graceffa) Profetto and lived for a time in Natick where she graduated from Natick High School. After high school she worked for the Massachusetts State Police and after that for the Raytheon Company.
On June 12, 1955 she married Loreto "Larry" Salvucci in his hometown of San Donato, Italy and the couple soon made Waltham their home. Theresa and Larry both worked hard to build their business, L. Salvucci, Inc., in Waltham. While Larry worked in the field Theresa ran the office while caring for their four children at home. Theresa really lived the adage that 'God could not be everywhere, so he created Mothers'.
In addition to running the company and the house Theresa loved the opportunity to help out at Waltham Hospital on Hope Avenue. The hospital relied on a steady corps of volunteers that staffed the front desk greeting visitors day and night with information and a smile. For more than twenty-two years Theresa worked the desk with energy, empathy and kindness.
In addition to her husband of sixty-one years, Larry, she leaves her children, Debra M. Salvucci of Hingham, Gregory J. Salvucci and his wife, Karen, of Lincoln, Suzanne M. Salvucci of Waltham and Sharon S. Healey and her husband, Jack, of Billerica; her grandchildren, Victoria and Joseph Imbriani, Larry, Jill, Jackie and Gregory Salvucci and Emma and Alex Healey; her brothers and sisters, James Profetto of Connecticut, John Profetto of Florida, Loretta Gioiosa and Toni Nejad, both of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Theresa was also the sister of the late Salvatore Profetto.
Family and friends will honor and remember Theresa's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, May 30th from 3 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
