West Yarmouth – Mr. Thomas A. Brown, formerly of Waltham died on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. He was 95.
Tom was born on May 28, 1922 in Waltham a son of the late Thomas A. and Mildred (Higgins) Brown. Raised and educated in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1940. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Tom married Waltham native Doris M. Burgess on June 27, 1948 in Saint Mary's Church. They made Waltham their home until moving permanently to Cape Cod where they lived in West Yarmouth since 1992. Doris died November 6, 2011.
He worked as a machinist for Artisan Industries for many years before retiring. In addition to time spent with family and on Cape Cod he was an avid Red Sox fan.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Doris he is predeceased by their daughter, Kathleen A. Donovan and his siblings, John F. Brown, Mildred Brown and Mary L. Burgess.
He leaves his children, Patricia M. Cordova and her husband, Art, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kenneth A. Brown and his wife, Tracey, of Canterbury, New Hampshire, Paul M. Brown and his wife, Michelle, of Lebanon, New Hampshire and Timothy J. Brown and his wife, Susan, of Sudbury; his grandchildren, Justin, Kristen, Caitlyn and Shannon Brown, James, Daniel and Kimberly Donovan, Ian Monica (Erika) and Kara Filiault (Seth); his great-grandchildren, Blake, Payton, Claudia and Joseph; his brother, Alfred Brown of Yarmouth; his brother-in-law, Roger Burgess of Maynard; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, March 20th from 4 to 8 pm and again at 9 am on Wednesday before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
