Mr. Thomas J. Cronin, of Weston, died at home on Thursday, February 13, 2020. He was 84.
Tom was born in Boston on January 30, 1936 a son of the late Jeremiah V. and Christina M. (Hehir) Cronin. Raised in Weston on his family's farm on Concord Road he graduated from Weston High School with the class of 1956. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Needham native Nancy A. Harrison in Saint Bartholomew's Church on September 26, 1964 and remained a lifelong Weston resident.
Tom worked with Local # 369 Utility Workers Union as a lineman for Boston Edison Company for over 40 years. He also owned and operated Cronin Tree Service for many years of his life and was working up until a couple of years ago.
An avid car enthusiast he was a member of the 'Early V8 Ford Car Club' where he enjoyed the friendships of fellow members and the shared interest in these particular model Fords from the 1940's and 50's. Tom was also a lover of animals and most especial his dog, 'Bailey'.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Nancy he leaves his sons, John J. Cronin (Capt. Weston Fire Dept.) of Concord and Joseph P. Cronin of Maynard; his grandchildren Caroline C. and Aiden T. Cronin; his brother Robert F. Cronin (Mildred) of Weston; his brother-in-law of David H. Harrison (Shirley) of Westwood; also survived by nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, February 18th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
