Mr. Thomas F. Greaney, of Waltham, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton. He was 78.
Tom was born September 27, 1932 and was raised in Norwood a son of the late Patrick and Bridget (Conroy) Greaney. He lived many years in Belmont before becoming a longtime Waltham resident.
He worked as a mechanic at MacLean Hospital in Belmont for over 25 years before retiring.
Tom was a lover of all things Irish. He loved Irish history, heritage and music but above all he loved to travel to Ireland which he did numerous times. He was an active member of Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #14 in Watertown.
He leaves his sisters, Mary DiPerri of Peabody, Margaret Adams and Catherine Goddard, both of Foxborough. He also leaves his close friend of 40 years, Mary A. Malone of Waltham. Tom is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
