Mr. Thomas Gemelli Sr., of Waltham, died Monday, November 21, 2022 after an illness. He was 75.
Tom was born on June 18, 1947 in Winthrop a son of the late John and Flora (Poretta) Gemelli. He was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War where he learned to be a technician. On June 1, 1973 he married Linda M. Bertolami in Sacred Heart Church.
He worked as a technician in telephone communications for ITT Co. and later Voice Systems Inc. before retiring in 2015. Tom was active as a coach for many years with the Waltham Youth Basketball League, both boys and girls as well as a softball coach for the Waltham Girls League. He enjoyed playing tennis and was an overall New England sports enthusiast.
He was a loving husband and father that devoted his life to Linda and raising their three children. He spent most of his time working hard to provide for his family so they could have the best life possible. Tom loved taking vacations with his family which created memories that they will cherish and hold onto forever. He had a great sense of humor, always coming up with a joke to make people laugh. He was also very handy around the house and always had a project at hand. He was always there for his wife, his children and his family if they ever needed him. He will be missed as much as he was loved.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he leaves his three children, Thomas Gemelli Jr. and his wife, Katie Gemelli of Leominster, Anthony M. Gemelli and his husband, Brian Conway Jr., Lisa M. Gemelli and her wife, Jana Gemelli and their son, Tyler Corrado all of Nashua, New Hampshire; his siblings, John Gemelli Jr. and wife, Iledna of Tampa, Florida, Maria DeAngelis (late Alfredo) of Watertown, Richard Gemelli of Haverhill, Danita Gemelli of Brockton and James J. ‘Jay’ Gemelli of Waltham and the late Michael Gemelli; in-laws, Janice and Michael DeJoy of Burlington and Joyce and Joseph Bergantino of Waltham; also survived by many nieces nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20) on Monday, November 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Tuesday before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Burial is private.
