Retired Waltham Firefighter Thomas E. Hart, of Waltham, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at his home. He was 88.
Tom was born in Waltham on February 14, 1937, a son of the late Bartholomew and Ariel (Morse) Hart, and had been a lifelong resident. After graduating from Waltham High School he served with the United States Army.
In September, 1964 he was appointed to the Waltham Fire Department and served as a firefighter and later, as a lieutenant, until his retirement in November, 1992. His last assignment was aboard Ladder One at the Central Station.
Tom loved his job on the fire department where he made many lifelong friends. He also ran his own painting company with various partners over the years using his skill, inside and out, on many homes in the city.
Two week vacations to Dennis Port every summer created countless happy memories for the family that he adored.
He leaves his wife, Rosemarie F. (Vallucci) Hart; his children, Thomas E. Hart, Jr. (Peg), Gary D. Hart (Alice) and William J. Hart, all of Framingham; his grandchildren, Allison Sutherland (Sean), David Hart (Brandy), Alexandria DeSa (Vitor), Nichole Hart and Kaitlyn Hart; his great-granddaughter, Adrianna Sutherland; his sister and brother, Norman Hart of Bedford and Virginia Simpson of Sandwich and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Tom was also a brother of the late Donald Hart, Marilyn Doyle, Barbara Thomas, Patricia MacDonald, Arlene Chiasson, Pauline Larsen and Lawrence Hart.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, April 8th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning when his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
