Waltham – Mr. Thomas J. 'Tod' Herron, III, of Waltham, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his home. He was 66.
Tod was born in Brockton on May 27, 1947, a son of the late Thomas J., Jr. and Dorothy (Rogers) Herron. He was raised in Stoughton where, as a member of the town's high school Class of 1965, he excelled on the football field. He later attended Suffolk University, graduating in 1983.
He had been a longtime resident of Stoughton before moving to Waltham seventeen years ago. Until his retirement he worked as an operations manager for Bank of America. Tod had been a member of the Stoughton Lions Club.
Tod leaves his wife, Rose Marie (D'Apollo) Herron; his children, Jenna Strickland and her husband, Stephen, of Foxborough, Grace Herron, Thomas J. Herron, IV and Jill Herron, all of Waltham; his grandchildren, Zachary and Brooke Strickland; his sister, Marilyn Pires and her husband, John, of Stoughton and Rev. Janet Herron of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; his mother-in-law, Susan D'Apollo of Waltham; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Julie D'Apollo of Hampstead, New Hampshire and Andrew and Kathleen D'Apollo of Austin, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the son-in-law of the late Gerardo and Grace D'Apollo.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tod's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 24th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
