Needham Dr. Thomas P.R. Hinchey, of Needham, formerly of Newton, died Saturday, December 30, 2006 in Beth Isreal Deaconess Hospital, Needham, after an illness. He was 86 years old. His wife of 57 years, Elizabeth W. (Walsh) Hinchey died Sunday, December 31, 2006. He leaves seven children, Michael T. Hinchey, Esq. and his wife, Ellen, of Westwood, Betsy H. Czarnowski and her husband, Greg, of Weston, Edward T. Hinchey, Esq. of Brookline, Stephen T. Hinchey of San Francisco, Kevin T. Hinchey, M.D. and his wife, Amy, of East Longmeadow, David T. Hinchey of South Boston and Judith A. Hinchey, M.D. of Auburndale, 10 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul R. Hinchey, M.D. and his sister, Margaret M. Hinchey. Dr. Hinchey was born in Waltham, a son of the late Dr. Richard and Winifred G. (Hennelley) Hinchey. He was a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1942 and Tufts University Medical School, Class of 1945. He practiced medicine at St. Elizabeths Hospital, Brighton, Waltham Hospital and Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He also served as president of the medical staff at St. Elizabeths and later at Waltham Hospital. His professional memberships included the Massachusetts Medical Society, American College of Surgeons and The American Association of Neurosurgeons. He was a member of St. Josephs Church in Needham and a longtime member of the Longwood Cricket Club. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 8:45 a.m. Thursday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham, followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Josephs Church, 1360 Highland Avenue, Needham at 10 am. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations my be made to Maryknoll Missionaries, Dept.
