Waltham – Mr. Thomas P. Magoon, of Waltham, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was 58.
Tom was born in Boston on June 27, 1952, a son of the late Leslie W. and Helen T. (Thornton) Magoon. He was raised in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. From 1967 to 1971 he was a member of the championship Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.
He attended Cambridge College where he earned a masters degree in education and until his retirement was the assistant superintendent of the Boston Fire Department Fire Alarm Construction division.
Tom leaves his wife, Cynthia R. (Botsch) Magoon; his sisters and brother, Susan M. Magoon of Hyde Park, John T. Magoon of Yarmouth, Johanne Day of Amesbury, Ellen Yessayan of Canton and Judy Rizzo of Weymouth; his brothers and sister-in-law, Larry Day, Ara Yessayan, John Rizzo and Ellen Magoon and his nieces and nephews, Shane and Patrick Magoon, Jourdan Rizzo, Larry and Kristina Day and Ara, Sean and Jared Yessayan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, June 1st, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning when his funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
